Howe Racing Stud Selection...                       

You can identify most Howe ball joint studs by using eight open end wrenches:   1/2, 7/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, and 15/16.  Each of the five fields will narrow the number of matches.  The first three fields can be answered without removing the ball joint stud from the housing.  (The use of dial calipers and more measurements will produce more accurate results.)

                                                                    

      

1. Thread Size:       (Use wrenches to identify the thread by the matching nut. )

2. I.D. Stamp:         (Look at the end of the stud for a marks If no mark, set this to None.)

3. Stud Width:       (Use the wrenches as gauges or dial calipers to identify the width at the base of the stud.)

4. Ball Diameter:       (Remove the stud and measure the ball using dial calipers.)

5. Stud Length:       (Remove the stud and measure the overall length with calipers or a tape measure.)
